HR Services for a communications solutions company

July 10, 2023

Project Summary

A communications solutions company hired Vero HR to provide HR services.  On short notice, they helped the client find HR specialists and a suitable HRIS for their needs.

Feedback Summary

The client was delighted with Vero HR pricing, which was 5%–8% cheaper than other providers.  Vero HR was also able to quickly provide them with HR specialists thanks to their responsive communication through email, phone calls, and texts.  The client also liked their commitment to the project’s success.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed the client over the phone.  The below is an edited transcript.

Opportunity / Challenge—what challenge were you trying to address with Vero HR?

Our HR team was suddenly unavailable, so I needed Vero HR to spin up a support function temporarily while we recruited a replacement team.

Solution

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vero HR helped us hire two HR services candidates.  Vero HR’s team provided some template descriptions and was involved in conversations about what I needed from those positions.  They also helped me tailor the job descriptions, and then they went out to market.  In addition, they helped us find an HR information system (HRIS) replacement by advising us and giving us a candid view of their experience with various platforms, which was useful.

What is the team composition?

We were mainly in touch with Mike (Managing Director) and then a number of his staff on the HR side and two on the recruitment side.

How did you come to work with Vero HR?

One of our investors referred them to us; we had previously worked with them on other projects.  We also chose them because we needed a team that could be able to start immediately and operate for a few months while we went through that period.

What is the status of this engagement?

For this project, we worked together from January 2022–January 2023.

Results & Feedback—what evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Vero HR was more cost-effective at around 10% per hire, whereas we expected to pay 15%–18% in the market.  That is one measure we are very happy with on the recruitment side.  Additionally, they had a two-day notice in which they had to provide us with agents and to start working with us, and they could do that.

How did Vero HR perform from a project management standpoint?

Vero HR was extremely responsive and happy to adapt to our preferred methods of communication, including emails, phone calls, and text messages.  We could also onboard their agents into our platforms and communicate with them through those.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked that Vero HR felt like a partner rather than just a vendor because they always wanted to get the best results for me — it sounds a bit cliché, but it seemed like they wanted to grow their business by doing right by us.  Rather than constantly trying to sell me things I didn’t need, they were interested in our success.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Regarding their HRIS solutions, they were closely tied to one supplier, so it could’ve been great if they had more than one partner for that area.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Treat them as a partner more than a vendor. In addition, be prepared to talk with them about your business rather than your current needs.
