Workplace Risk Assessment Services

Running a safe workplace isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s a legal requirement. Yet many business owners and HR leaders feel uncertain about whether they’re truly covering all the bases when it comes to workplace risk assessments. Without proper risk identification and management, you’re leaving your business exposed to legal liability, financial penalties, and reputational damage.

That’s where we come in. With more than 20 years of experience helping UK businesses navigate health and safety compliance, our workplace risk assessment services make sure you’re not just meeting HSE requirements.

Workplace Risk Assessment

What is a Workplace Risk Assessment?

At its simplest, a workplace risk assessment is a systematic examination of anything in your business that could cause harm to your employees, customers, or visitors. It’s about identifying hazards, understanding the risks they pose, and putting practical measures in place to control them.

But it’s about so much more than ticking a box for compliance. A thorough risk assessment helps you understand your workplace inside and out. It reveals the gaps in your current safety measures, highlights areas where your team might be at risk, and gives you a clear, actionable plan to make things better.

The reality is that many businesses either skip risk assessments altogether or treat them as a one-off task. That leaves you vulnerable. Risks evolve as your business grows, your processes change, and new hazards emerge.

Our employee handbook frequently asked questions

Every workplace risk assessment follows the same core framework: first, identify the hazards in your workplace; second, work out who might be harmed and how; third, evaluate the risks and decide what control measures you need; fourth, record your findings and the actions you’re taking; and finally, review and update your assessment regularly as your business changes.

A workplace risk assessment is a broad examination of all hazards in your business, from slips and trips through to manual handling, chemical exposure, and more. A fire risk assessment is a specialist assessment focusing specifically on fire hazards and your preparedness. We can provide fire risk assessment as part of our service, giving you comprehensive coverage.

There’s no set timescale, but as a general rule, you should review your risk assessment at least annually. However, if your business changes significantly, such as new equipment, new processes, new team members, or changes to your premises, then you should review it sooner. Our team can advise on what’s right for your business.
