Challenge

When the client first got in touch with us in June of 2008, they had just relocated their operations. Unfortunately, their Office Manager – who also looked after their HR – chose not to relocate, leaving the business with no HR coverage.

They had fallen victim to the ‘single-point-of-failure’ risk, and they needed HR support urgently – which is where we came in.

Solution

2008: Providing flexible support with the Vero Team package

After assessing the client’s needs, we proposed our ‘Silver’ support package – equivalent to today’s Vero Team HR package. This included a remote HR administrative service, professional HR advice and onsite support when needed.

With the package agreed, we started to complete vital HR compliance tasks such as an employee file audit and an HR documentation audit (updating of policies, procedures and contract templates). We also introduced robust processes to better manage the HR activity within the business.

The client’s management team also lacked professional HR support, so we stepped in to provide this service, assisting with employee relations case work as well as more complex change management activities.

The implementation of the Team package ensured all of the company’s HR needs were covered, taking some of the pressure off following the relocation.

2018: Introducing Cezanne HR Tech and Vero Pay

As we expanded our own added-value service offerings, the Client wanted to introduce a digital HR system to better manage some of their HR administrative activity.  It was at this point that the relationship grew further, with the introduction of our Vero Technology service and the onboarding of the Cezanne platform in July 2018.

As part of the scoping for this, we identified that aligning the payroll activity within our Vero Pay function would not only improve accuracy and reduce costs, but allow for a better integration between their payroll and HR tech, delivering a smoother experience for their employees and improved efficiency, data accuracy and security. The client agreed, and Vero Pay was onboarded alongside Vero Technology.

2020: Navigating the complexities of Covid-19

2020 saw an increase in activity as our team helped the client navigate through Covid-19 and, in particular, the constant evolution of the furlough scheme.

As an industry significantly affected by lockdowns, the client leaned heavily on our advice, guidance documents and support through this period, exceeding their standard monthly hours. However, we were able to accommodate their shifting needs and increase our level of support on demand.

2021: Vero Recruit (and supporting a business acquisition)

Following the early part of the pandemic – which had transformed the landscape of its business – the client looked to rebuild. We were there to help, supporting the team with their transition back to the office as well as sourcing and recruiting additional talent through Vero Recruit.

In December 2021, the client acquired another UK business. We provided high level, professional HR support, first with the TUPE of affected employees and later with the integration of terms and conditions and policies.

Results

After more than 15 years of working together, our relationship with the client remains stronger than ever. Today, their partnership with Vero HR covers four retained service offerings – HR, Payroll, Technology and Recruitment – as well as the use of the Vero Legal service on an ad hoc basis.
